Abstract
Ionske tekućine su organske soli s niskom točkom tališta. Zbog jedinstvenih svojstava poput niskog tlaka pare, nezapaljivosti, dobre kemijske stabilnosti te mogućnosti reciklacije i ponovne upotrebe smatrane su zelenom zamjenom za industrijski hlapljive organske spojeve. Zbog velike industrijske primjene potrebno je ispitati njihovu toksičnost i utjecaj na okoliš i zdravlje ljudi. U ovom radu ispitan je utjecaj 1-butil-3-metilimidazolijevog acetata na klijanje i rast ječma (Hordeum vulgare). Nakon 7-dnevnog uzgoja ječma pri različitim masenim koncentracijama ionskih tekućina određen je stupanj inhibicije klijanja sjemena ječma te biokemijski pokazatelji oksidativnog stresa, sadržaj fotosintetskih pigmenata, količina malonaldehida kao pokazatelja lipidne peroksidacije i količina H2O2. Rezultati su pokazali da 1-butil-3-metilimidazolijev acetat ima toksično djelovanje na rast i klijanje ječma, pri čemu toksičnost raste s povećanjem masene koncentracije ionske tekućine.
Abstract (english)
Ionic liquids are organic salts with low melting point. Because of unique properties such as low vapour pressure, non-flammability, chemical stability, recyclability and multiple use they are considered as green replacements for industrial volatile organic compounds. Due to industrial applications it is necessary to examine their toxicity and their potential effect on the environment and human health. In this work the effect of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate on growth and germination of barley (Hordeum vulgare) was studied. After 7-day cultivation at different ionic liquids’ concentrations biochemical markers of oxidative stress, photosynthetic pigments content, the amount of malondialdehyde as an indicator of lipid peroxidation and the amount of H2O2 were determined. The results indicate that 1-butyl-3- methylimidazolium acetate possess toxic effect on growth and germination of barley, whereby toxicity is pronounced by increase in ionic liquid’s concentration.
