Abstract
Iako je službeni stav znanosti o prehrani da je vegetarijanska prehrana prihvatljiva za djecu, taj stav i dalje nije jednoglasno prihvaćen. Cilj ovog rada bio je dobiti uvid u stavove o vegetarijanstvu u dječjoj dobi među zaposlenicima dječjih vrtića koji su odgovorni za pitanje prehrane. U tu svrhu, analizirana je vegetarijanska ponuda u javnim vrtićima na području Grada Zagreba. Ciljana skupina bile su zdravstvene voditeljice odgovorne za prehranu u dječjim vrtićima. Korištena je kombinacija strukturiranog intervjua i fokus grupe. Pokazalo se da je unatoč malom interesu za vegetarijanstvo broj vrtića koji je u nekom trenutku skrbio o djetetu vegetarijancu značajan (51,6%). Unatoč tome, načini rješavanja njihove prehrane nisu adekvatni primarno zbog ograničenih resursa i negativne percepcije o vegetarijanskoj prehrani u dječjoj dobi. Ključnim točkama poboljšanja situacije definirani su: kreiranje praktičnih smjernica za vegetarijanstvo u djetinjstvu, multidimenzionalna edukacija o vegetarijanskoj prehrani te suradnja mjerodavnih institucija u pronalaženju prihvatljive alternative postojećim opcijama.
Abstract (english)
Although authorities consider vegetarian diets to be suitable for children, this position is still not universally accepted. The aim of this research was to gain insight into the attitude of kinder-garten employees in charge of nutrition towards following a vegetarian diet throughout childhood. For this purpose, an analysis of availability of vegetarian menus was conducted in public kindergartens in the city of Zagreb. The target group of the research were senior nurses responsible for community nutrition in the kindergartens. A combination of a structured interview and a focus group was used. Despite little interest in vegetarian diets, the number of kindergartens which at some point dealt with a vegetarian child was significant (51,6%). Despite that, the ways in which their diet is managed is poor primarily due to the financial limitations and the negative perception of vegetarianism at this age. The following key points for improving the existing situation were identified: compiling practical guide-lines for childhood vegetarianism in practice, education on vegetarian diets and cooperation of desig-nated institutions towards finding an agreeable alternative.
