Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je prikazati stanje i mogućnosti proizvodnje pira u Republici Hrvatskoj. Heksaploidna pšenica, pir (Triticum spelta L.), zauzima značajno mjesto u grupi alternativnih žitarica, jer zbog svojih bioloških osobina postaje sve interesantnija za uzgoj. Područje uzgoja poklapa se sa područjem uzgoja pšenice. U Republici Hrvatskoj postoje odlični uvjeti za ekološku proizvodnju pira. Daje niže prosječne prinose od suvremene pšenice, ali je od njih otporniji na lošije agroekološke uvjete klime i tla, te na bolesti, štetnike i korove.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this paper is to present current state and possibilities of spelt wheat production in a Republic of Croatia.Hexaploid spelt wheat (Triticum spelta L.) takes an important place in the group of alternative grains, because its biological properties which makes it more and more interesting for production. The growth area for spelt concides to thegrowth area of wheats. There are excellent conditions for ecological production of spelt in the Republic of Croatia. The average yields are usually smaller comparing to modern wheats, but it is more resistant to poor agroecological conditions of climate and soil and to diseases, pests and weeds.
