Permaculture is a system of practical formatting of a sustainable living space that mimics natural processes and is based on integrated traditional and contemporary knowledge and skills. It is the harmony of people and landscapes, which in a sustainable manner provides food, energy, shelter and other material and immaterial needs. Eco Village Findhorn is known locally as well as globally as a positive model of ecologically sustainable development. Findhorn was established in 1962 and is the grandfather of all Eco Village. The Eco Village Findhorn has so far built 61 eco-houses and plans are still being made to continue construction of facilities that will be complemented by a respectable environment. For years they have developed a unique construction system, integrated into the environment and energy efficient. Eco village is a producer of electricity and about 50% of production exports and network and is thus one of the most ecofriendly eco villages businesses. Cubans have also replaced agricultural machines with animals, and urban agriculture has reduced the distance of food transportation. Today, about 50% of Havana's vegetables come from the inner city, while in other Cuban cities, urban gardens produce 80 to 100% of the required fruit and vegetables. Hand tools and human work have replaced petroleum machinery. Worm breeding and composting have created a productive ground. Drainage by drip has preserved water, and varied, carob fruit and vegetables have provided a lot of healthy food to the community.
