Fertilization is often carried out without the necessary analysis and by heart without calculation and identified needs of the cultivated plant species. Such practice can lead do declining yields, profit, but also can often lead to soil degradation and contamination. In order to avoid the negative consequences of poor agricultural practices, a variety of advanced tools (geostatistics, fertilization calculators) are available to farmers today to help them adjust fertilization to the requirements of cultivated crops. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to estimate the applied nitrogen doses in the Osijek-Baranja County using the adavanced geostatistical Bayeasian kriging method and to identify vulnerable areas based on collected soil samples. The survey was conducted on an area of 4,152 km where a total of 11,426 soil samples were collected. The nitrogen dose was calculated using an AlRxp calculator and for the purposes of geostatistical analysis and data visualization, the ARCgis software was applied. The average calculated dose of nitrogen was 134.15 kg N ha-1. The lowest recommended dose of nitrogen was 23 kg N ha-1 and the highest 200 kg N ha-1 which was also the maximum that could be calculated with the calculator. The areas with nitrogen demands from 120 to 160 kg N ha-1 were the most prevalent in the entire county. The most problematic areas are those with nitrogen doses between 160 and 200 kg N ha-1, and especially those near rivers and lakes, since in such areas nitrate leaching into the waters can be expected leading to their pollution. The empirical Bayesian kriging method has been proven successful in predicting vulnerable areas in Osijek-Baranja County, but after detection it is necessary to carry out a detailed soil analysis in order to be able to determine the cause with certainty and to offer possible solutions in the form of agro-technical interventions
