Abstract
Tlo je jedan od najvažnijih dijelova prirodnog okoliša i uglavnom neobnovljivi prirodni resurs. Također je nositelj brojnih funkcija kao što su proizvodnja hrane, klimatsko-ekološko-biološka regulacija, filtracija vode, puferizacija, temelj infrastrukture, izvor sirovina i kulturna baština. Cilj rada je opisati okolišne, socijalne i ekonomske funkcije tla ukazujući na povezanost procesa degradacije tla sa smanjenjem ili onesposobljavanjem pojedinih funkcija tla čime se ugrožavaju usluge ekosustava. Tlo je potrebno zaštititi i očuvati njegove prirodne funkcije održivim korištenjem tla. Održiva uporaba tla moguća je usklađivanjem svrha svih funkcija tla, isključivanjem ili minimiziranjem onih procesa koji dovode do njegove degradacije.
Abstract (english)
Soil is one of the most important parts of the natural environment and largely non-renewable natural resource. It is also the bearer of numerous functions such as food production, climate-ecological-biologicalregulation, water filtration, buffering, fundamentation for infrastructure, source of raw materials and cultural heritage. The aim of this paper is to describe the environmental, social and economic functions of soil, pointing out the connection between the process of soil degradation and the reduction or incapacitation of certain soil functions, which endangers ecosystem services. Soil needs to be protected and its natural functions preserved through sustainable soil use. Sustainable soil use is possible by harmonizing the purposes of all soil functions, eliminating or minimizing those processes that lead to its degradation.
