Abstract
Afrička svinjska kuga je kontagiozna virusna bolest domaćih i divljih svinja. Predstavlja jednu od najznačajnijih bolesti svinja zbog visoke stope smrtnosti i ujedno zbog brzog širenja. Uzročnik virusa afričke svinjske kuge je DNK virus koji pripada rodu Asfivirus, iz porodice Asfaviridae. Afrička svinjska kuga nije opasna za ljude, niti za druge vrste životinja. Bolest afričke svinjske kuge je popraćena simptomima poput visoke tjelesne temperature, depresije, respiratornih i probavnih smetnji. Javlja se kod različitih dobnih skupina svinja. Bolest se može prenositi izravnim ili neizravnim kontaktom. Afrička svinjska kuga otkrivena je u Africi početkom 20. stoljeća, te se proširila na neke od europskih i azijskih zemalja. Od 2014. godine, bolest se širi Europom. Trenutno ne postoji cjepivo protiv afričke svinjske kuge. Afrička svinjska kuga je bolest koja se nikako ne smije zanemariti, a znanje i informiranost o ovoj bolesti, kao i provođenje preventivnih mjera, važni su kako bi se spriječila daljnja širenja zaraze. U Republici Hrvatskoj bolest afričke svinjske kuge se nikada nije pojavila.
Abstract (english)
African swine fever is a contagious viral disease of domestic and feral pigs. It is one of the most significant diseases of pigs due to it’s high mortality rate and also due to its rapid spread. Causative agent of the African swine fever is a DNK virus that belongs to the gene of Asfivirus, from Asfaviridae family. African swine fever is not dangerous for humans, or any kind of animal species, except pigs. This disease has been accompanied by symptoms such as high body temperature, depression, respiratory and digestive discomforts. It occurs in different age groups of pigs. Disease can be transmitted by direct or indirect contact. African swine fever was discovered and found in Africa in the early 20th century and then the disease was spread to cities across the Europe and Asia. Since 2014., the disease has been spreading across the Europe. Currently, there is no vaccine against African swine fever. African swine fever is a disease that should not be neglected, whilst knowledge and information about this disease, as well as implementation of preventive measures are important to prevent further spread of the infection. In Republic of Croatia, African swine fever has never occurred.
