Abstract
Abiotski stres predstavlja nežive čimbenike okoline koji mogu značajno utjecati na razvoj i kvalitetu plodova jabuka. Ovi čimbenici uključuju ekstremne temperature, sušu, hladnoću, toplinu, vlagu, višak ili nedostatak svjetlosti te nepovoljna svojstva tla. Usporavanjem fotosinteze, smanjenjem transpiracije i metabolizma, te promjenom ostalih fizioloških procesa biljke, abiotski stres dovodi do poremećaja u razvoju i akumulaciji nutrijenata u plodovima. Rezultat toga može biti smanjenje rasta plodova, manja veličina, nedostatak sjaja, nepravilni oblik, slabija boja i smanjenje nutritivne vrijednosti. Povećana prisutnost slobodnih radikala, koji nastaju kao reakcija na stres, može uzrokovati oštećenja stanica i povećati osjetljivost prema bolestima i štetnicima. Uzgoj otpornih sorti, primjena odgovarajućih agrotehničkih mjera sa svrhom zaštite od ekstremnih uvjeta mogu pomoći u minimiziranju negativnih utjecaja abiotskog stresa na plodove jabuka. Održiva poljoprivredna praksa i pomno praćenje uvjeta uzgoja bitni su za osiguranje visokokvalitetnih i zdravih plodova i očuvanje ekosustava. Nadalje, važno je istaknuti da pravilna i redovita primjena gnojiva te pravilno zalijevanje mogu pomoći u održavanju optimalnih uvjeta za rast jabuka, smanjujući time osjetljivost na abiotski stres.
Abstract (english)
Abiotic stress represents non-living environmental factors that can significantly impact the development and quality of apple fruits. These factors include extreme temperatures, drought, cold, heat, humidity, excess or lack of light, and unfavorable soil conditions. By slowing down photosynthesis, reducing transpiration and metabolism, and altering other plant's physiological processes, abiotic stress leads to disturbed fruit development and nutrient accumulation. This can result with reduced fruit growth, smaller size, lack of luster, irregular shape, pale color, and diminished nutritional value. The increased presence of free radicals, generated as a reaction to stress, can cause cell damage and increase susceptibility to diseases and pests. Growing resilient varieties, applying appropriate cultivating techniques with the aim of protection against extreme conditions, and adapting cultivation practices to stress conditions can help minimize the negative impacts of abiotic stress on apple fruits. Sustainable agricultural practices and careful monitoring of growth conditions are essential to ensure high-quality and healthy fruits and preservation of the ecosystem. Furthermore, it is important to emphasize that the proper and regular application of fertilizers and adequate irrigation can help maintain optimal conditions for apple growth, thereby reducing sensitivity to abiotic stress.
