In this assignment, corona virus infection in dogs is described, respectively etiology, epizootiology, clinical picture, pathological changes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Currently, two genotypes of canine coro-navirus are known, which are designated as type I (CCoV-1) and type II (CCoV-2). Based on virulence CCoV-2 has evolved into two distinct pathogens enteric (classical) and pantropic. Canine corona virus (CCoV) was first described in a military dog unit in Germany in 1971., after that it became enzootic and has been identified worldwide. Serologic and virologic investigations demonstrated that virus is widespread in the dog population, especially in kennels and shelters for animals, while there are no special studies in hunting dog breeds. Enteric or intestinal infection is characterized by high morbidity and low mortality. The natural route of transmission is fecal-oral, the virus in feces is the main source of infection. Since the canine corona virus is highly conta-gious, avoiding contact with infected dogs and their excretions is the only way to ensure disease prevention. Detection of CCoV can be performed by virus neutralization (VN) tests and immunoenzymatic ELISA. There is no specific treatment for canine coronavirus. Antibiotic treatment of secondary bacterial infections and early medical intervention is the key to successful treatment of severe cases. Diseases caused by canine corona virus can be prevented by vaccination.
