Seafarers, due to their specific way of life, are one of the most at-risk groups of sexually transmitted diseases. Their age, education, level of education and maritime position greatly influence their behavior, awareness and knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases. Numerous microorganisms are the cause of some of the "classic" sexually transmitted diseases, including syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, AIDS and hepatitis B and C. Most infections have symptoms such as a different color of discharge or urine, redness or purulent inflammation and blisters around the abdomen and genitals. But with some infections there are no symptoms or signs of the disease, which is why it is important to make a good diagnosis and adequate treatment. Treatments are carried out with various therapies, antibiotics and antivirals and can last for months. In order to raise awareness and reduce the spreading of sexually transmitted diseases in both seafarers and other groups of people, it is necessary to educate them before they start having sex.
