Abstract
Jedan od najvećih izvora onečišćenja svjetskih mora je brodarstvo. Najveću pozornost stvaraju izljevi ulja sa svojim potencijalno katastrofalnim posljedicama. Odgovornost za štete nastale kao posljedica izljeva nije uvijek bila regulirana, štoviše, potreban je bio incident tankera Torrey Canyon kako bi se uvela međunarodna regulativa u pogledu snošenja posljedica. Svojstva ulja kao ugljikovodika su dobro poznata, baš kao i njegovo ponašanje na moru. Izliveno ulje prolazi kroz razne kompozicijske promjene i njihovo poznavanje je nužno za učinkovito djelovanje. Skimeri i brane su najčešći oblici reagiranja na izljeve ulja i spadaju u klasične metode uklanjanja ulja sa površine mora, ponajviše zbog svoje raznovrsnosti, ali i jednostavnosti. Faza skladištenja prikupljenog ulja također igra bitnu ulogu u procesu čišćenja. Konačno, ne smijemo zaboraviti na biljni i životinjski svijet koji trpi posljedice izljeva. Makar se posljedice ponekad čine nepopravljivima, morski organizmi su pokazali veliku otpornost i sposobnost oporavka.
Abstract (english)
One of the largest sources of pollution of the world's seas is shipping. Oil spills produce the most attention with their potentially catastrophic consequences. Liability for damage caused by spills was not always regulated, the Torrey Canyon tanker incident was required in order to introduce international regulations regarding the responsibillity for the consequences. The properties of oil as a hydrocarbon are well known, as is its behavior at sea. The poured oil undergoes various compositional changes and understanding them is necessary for effective action. Skimmers and booms are the most common forms of reaction to oil spills and belong to the classic methods of removing oil from the surface of the sea, mostly due to their diversity, but also simplicity. The storage phase of the collected oil also plays an essential role in the cleaning process. Finally, we must not forget the flora and fauna that suffers from the effects of the spill. Although the consequences sometimes seem irreparable, marine organisms have shown great resilience and the ability to recover.
