The issue with oil pollution of the marine environment has been present in public debates for decades. Pollution can be from river and land sources, accidental and intentional discharges from ships or by-products of offshore oil extraction. Growing awareness of the consequences of oil pollution of the marine environment has led to the introduction of measures to reduce or remove pollution from shipping and the offshore oil industry. But despite a significant reduction in oil pollution of the marine environment, the risk of oil pollution of the marine environment is constantly present. Exploration, extraction and transport of crude oil from the sea can lead to accidents which in turn lead to oil spills and cause environmental problems, such as soil and / or water pollution. It is therefore important to apply appropriate marine oil pollution removal technologies. The subject of research of this thesis is the removal of oil pollution of the sea and the application of appropriate II technologies. The paper investigates the properties of oil spills into the sea, and ecological and economic damage caused by oil spills into the marine environment. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of different technologies applied for the purpose of removing oil spills into the sea. The application of appropriate technologies results in greater efficiency in the removal of marine oil pollution.
