Abstract
Tema multikulturalnih posada u pomorskoj industriji široko je rasprostranjena i najviše prepoznata sa sigurnosnog aspekta. Upravo zbog pomorske sigurnosti važno je istaknuti da je multikulturalnost dio sigurnosne kulture, te da je to ujedno najvažnija kultura na brodu. S tim u vidu potrebno je naglasiti da su mnoge nesreće uzrokovane slabim znanjem engleskog jezika i nepoznavanjem kulturalnih čimbenika članova posade različitih nacionalnosti. Takvim nesrećama zasigurno pridonosi nedostatak obrazovanja pomoraca na tu temu bilo na sveučilištima tijekom studiranja ili centrima za izobrazbu tijekom daljnjeg educiranja. S obzirom da su multikulturalne posade važne za sigurnost na brodu potrebno im je pridati veći značaj, posebice u vidu obrazovanja kako bi se budući pomorci na vrijeme mogli upoznati sa prednostima i nedostacima rada u multikulturalnom okruženju.
Abstract (english)
The topic of multicultural crews on board is widely known and recognized from the safety aspect. Because of importance of maritime safety, it is relevant to emphasize that multiculturalism is part of safety culture, which is considered the most important culture on board. Bearing that in mind it must be highlighted that many maritime accidents have been caused by poor level of English language and ignorance of cultural factors of crew members of different nationalities. It is evident that the lack of education of seafarers at universities about multiculturalism and later at maritime education centers contributes to accidents of that kind. As a result, the awareness of the impact multicultural crews have on ship’s safety has to be to be raised, especially from the aspect of education in order for future seafarers to be more acquainted with advantages and disadvantages of working in multicultural environment.
