Abstract
Probiotici su živi mikroorganizmi za koje je dokazano da imaju brojne pozitivne učinke na ljudsko zdravlje, prvenstveno u borbi protiv patogena. Probiotici su povezani s promjenom crijevne mikrobiote koja u konačnici utječe na poboljšanje raznih kožnih stanja. Dokazani mehanizmi kojima probiotičke bakterije pokazuju svoje korisne učinke uključuju izravno uništavanje patogena, kompeticiju za receptorska mjesta i hranjive tvari, poboljšavanje epitelne barijere, indukciju fibroblasta te migraciju i funkcioniranje epitelnih stanica. Posljedično tome, probiotici moduliraju i aktiviraju intraepitelne limfocite, prirodne stanice ubojice i makrofage kroz induciranu proizvodnju citokina te na taj način blagotvorno utječu na zdravlje i izgled kože. Diplomski rad sadrži najnovija saznanja o djelovanju probiotika na razne kožne bolesti kao što su atopijski dermatitis, psorijaza, akne i rosacea te je opisana njihova potencijalna uloga kod zacijelivanja rana, opeklina i fotostarenja kože.
Abstract (english)
Probiotics are live microorganisms which are proved to have a number of positive effects on human health, primarily in the fight against pathogens. Probiotics are associated with the change of intestinal microbial which ultimately affects the improvement of various skin conditions. The proven mechanisms by which probiotic bacteria exhibit their beneficial effects include direct killing of pathogens, competence for receptor sites and nutrients, improvement of epithelial barrier, induction of fibroblasts, and migration and functioning of epithelial cells. Consequently, probiotics modulate and activate intraepithelial lymphocytes, natural killer cells, and macrophage through induced cytokine production and thus have a beneficial effect on the health and appearance of the skin. This thesis contains the latest knowledge on the effects of probiotics on various skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne and rosacea, and their potential role in the healing of wounds, burns and aging of skin caused by UV radiation.
