Abstract (english)
Chlorella is a genus of unicellular, coccoidal green alga which is known as widely distributed organism in freshwater and marine environment. Nowadays, it is also cultivated worldwide, regarding the numerous possibilities of its application, such as dietary supplement, in pharmaceutical industry, in biofuel production and in wastewater remediation. High nutritive value arises from its content, rich in proteins (up to 50 %), lipids, polysaccharides, carotenoids, vitamins and minerals. This article reveals a few positive impacts on use of Chlorella dietary supplements, based on the great number of human, animal and in vitro models on the immune system, nervous system and metabolism of human body.
