The aim of this paper is to do a review of association between lipids and aggressive behaviour in schizophrenia, as well as to give an end view on the role of the pharmaceutical care for aggressive patients in order to prevent adverse outcomes and to enable safe and effective psychopharmacotherapy. For this purpose, relevant scientific and professional literature, publications of professional institutions, relevant psychiatric diagnostic manuals, currently relevant treatment and diagnostic guidelines and other available resources were searched. Possible links between lipids and aggressiveness in schizophrenia were identified, as well as specific conditions that can influence on this association like: high prevalence of metabolic syndrome in schizophrenia, tendency to aggressiveness of patients who have schizophrenia and treatment with antipsychotics. It is actually very hard to understand is for example dyslipidemia in the base of schizophrenia, or is it only adverse effect of treatment with antipsychotics. There has been described the role of cholesterol and other lipids in development of aggressive behaviour and pointed out the role of serotonin as main mediator between lipids and aggressiveness in schizophrenia. Also there has been given an end view on potential markers of aggressive behaviour in schizophrenia based on lipid profiles of those who suffer from schizophrenia. Association between lipids and aggressive behavior is becoming more important and there are serious considerations that screening of patients who have schizophrenia based on their lipid profiles could identify the risk of violent, aggressive behaviour that could have negative impact on individual or society.
