Abstract
Zeleni čaj proizvodi se iz lišća biljke Camellia sinensis L., grma porijeklom iz Azije. Uz zeleni, postoji još nekoliko vrsti čaja. Zeleni čaj ima vrlo bogat i složen kemijski sastav, a najznačajnije sastavnice su polifenoli. Najvažniji u skupini polifenola je (-)-epigalokatehin-galat (EGCG). EGCG stupa u interakcije s mnogim agensima. Najčešće te interakcije rezultiraju sinergizmom, što znači da nastaje kombinirani efekt koji je veći od zbroja pojedinačnih efekata svakog agensa. Postoji nekoliko metoda za istraživanje interakcija, a najviše korištene su metoda izobole i kombinirani indeks. Istraživane su interakcije polifenola zelenog čaja i drugih agenasa (polisaharida, sulforafana, laktoferina iz mlijeka, antitumorskog lijeka-cisplatin, askorbinska kiselina, inhibitor histon deacetilaze, antimikotika-amfotericin B i flukonazol). Rezultati su pokazali da polifenoli s drugim tvarima djeluju sinergistički na proliferaciju i rast različitih tumora i pojačavaju antifungalni učinak lijeka. Može se zaključiti da je konzumacija zelenog čaja poželjna jer pomaže u terapiji mnogih bolesti, ali treba biti oprezan u konzumaciji i kombiniranju jer nisu još sve interakcije istražene.
Abstract (english)
Green tea is made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis L., a plant native to Asia. Except green, there are few more different types of tea. Green tea has a very rich and complex chemical composition with the most important component being polyphenols. The most important polyphenol is (-) –epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which interacts with many agents. These interactions mostly result in synergism, meaning that a combined effect is greater than the sum of the individual effects of each agent. There are several methods for exploring interactions and the most used are the isobole method and the combined index. The interactions of green tea polyphenols and other agents (polysaccharides, sulforaphane, milk lactoferrin, anticancer drug- cisplatin, ascorbic acid, histone deacetylase inhibitor, antifungal amphotericin B and fluconazole) have been investigated. The results showed that polyphenols with other substances act synergistically on the proliferation and growth of different tumors and enchance the antifungal effect of the drugs. It can be concluded that consumption of green tea is advisable because it helps treating many diseases, but caution in combining is still needed because not all interactions have been yet investigated.
