This thesis is based on the analysis of several important factors that determine the development of agriculture. The analysis of natural-geographical elements (relief, climate and water) was conducted at the county level, while the demographic analysis of the population was also conducted at the level of local self-government units. The analysis included 25 municipalities and 9 administrative cities located in Zagreb County. Zagreb County is located in the continental part of Croatia, which largely determined its natural and geographical features. The position of the county next to the capital of the Republic of Croatia, Zagreb, influenced the demographic processes in its area. The first part of the paper presents the results of the analysis of natural-geographical features. In the continuation of the paper, selected indicators of the demographic structure of the population at the level of Zagreb County, but also at the level of local self-government units are presented. Some of the indicators are natural change, age index, education index. The paper concludes with an overview of the structure of the agricultural population according to selected components and agricultural land (utilization of agricultural land, average number of plots per agricultural land, etc.) and the assumption of future agricultural development in Zagreb County.
