Abstract Predmet istraživanja je krajolik, pripadajući tipovi i razvojni procesi u krajoliku otoka Brača u razdoblju 1980. – 2018. Krajolik je odraz interakcije prirode i društva, a promjene načina korištenja zemljišta i zemljišnog pokrova odvijaju se paralelno s promjenama ekonomskog i društvenog sustava. Provedena je analiza popisnih podataka, GIS analiza i vizualizacija prostornih podataka dobivenih daljinskim istraživanjima i korelacijska analiza fizičko geografskih i demografsko gospodarskih varijabli s varijablama načina korištenja zemljišta i zemljišnog pokrova.
Abstract (english) This thesis deals with the landscape, its associated types and development processes of the island of Brač in the period 1980.-2018. The landscape reflects the interaction between nature and society as changes of LULC take place simultaneously with socioeconomic changes. The analysis of census data, GIS analysis and visualisation of spatial data obtained by remote sensing and correlation analysis of morphological and demographic-economic variables with LULC variables have been performed. There have been determined five types of landscape: Built-up areas, Agricultural land, Forestland, Shrubland and Land with little or no vegetation. The changes have been grouped together into five different development processes: Construction, Conversion to agricultural land, Vegetation succession, Vegetation degradation and Stagnation. The changes are more intense and affect larger areas int he second half of observed period. The built-up and agricultural land as well as land with little or no vegetation increased in area while forestland and shrubland area decreased. Two-thirds of the island of Brač area were not affected by the changes while dominating processes were conversion to agricultural land and vegetation degradation. The morphological characteristics included in the study, slope and exposition, have been shown to be important as opposed to altitude. Changes in the demographic-economic structure have proved to be statistically related to changes in LULC. In spite of the increase in agricultural land area, agriculture stays predominantly extensive and also, a great deal of agricultural land has been abandoned.
