Abstract Zakon geometrijske optike je tema koja je u četverogodišnjim programima s 2 sata fizike tjedno izborna, dok je u četverogodišnjim programima s 2+2 sata fizike tjedno obvezno gradivo. Zanimljivo je da ovako primjenjivo gradivo u stvarnom životu ostane tek kao izborna tema, dok svi znamo da je vremena uvijek premalo i da se s gradivom često kasni. Komunikacija putem optičkog kabela nalazi se svuda oko nas - u medicini, sigurnosnim sustavima, televiziji, telekomunikacijama, internetu - a u nastavi se gotovo ni ne spominje. Optički kabeli koriste fenomen totalne refleksije. Do totalne refleksije dolazi kada upadna zraka svjetlosti pada pod kutom većim od graničnog kuta, pod uvjetom da svjetlost prelazi iz gušćeg u rjede optičko sredstvo. Optički kabeli su dizajnirani tako da imaju minimalne gubitke signala, što ih čini vodećim izborom u komunikaciji. Upravo zbog ovih svojstava, optički kabeli omogućuju brzu i pouzdanu komunikaciju na velikim udaljenostima. Zbog svoje važnosti i široke primjene, potrebno je da se tema optičkih kabela i geometrijske optike integrira u obrazovne programe na način koji će učenicima približiti njihovu stvarnu primjenjivost. Kroz interaktivne pokuse i praktične primjere, učenici mogu bolje razumjeti kako teorija koju uče ima direktnu vezu s tehnologijama koje svakodnevno koriste. Integracijom ovih tema u nastavu, možemo potaknuti učenike na dublje razumijevanje i veće zanimanje za fiziku, pokazujući im kako naučeno gradivo može imati stvaran utjecaj na njihove živote i buduće karijere. U konačnici, cilj je pružiti učenicima alate i znanje koje će im pomoći da bolje razumiju i cijene svijet oko sebe, a nastavnicima osigurati resurse za učinkovito poučavanje ovih važnih koncepata.
Abstract (english) The law of geometric optics is a topic that is elective in four-year programs with 2 hours of physics per week, while in four-year programs with 2+2 hours of physics per week, it is mandatory material. It is interesting that such practically applicable material in real life remains just an elective topic, and it is well known that there is never enough time and that we are always behind with the curriculum. Communication through optical cables is all around us - in medicine, security systems, television, telecommunications, and the internet - yet it is barely mentioned in education. Optical cables utilize the phenomenon of total internal reflection. Total internal reflection occurs when an incident light ray strikes at an angle greater than the critical angle, provided it is moving from a denser to a rarer optical medium. Optical cables are designed to have minimal signal loss, making them the leading choice in communication. Due to these properties, optical cables enable fast and reliable communication over long distances. Given their importance and wide application, it is essential that the topic of optical cables and geometric optics be integrated into educational programs in a way that demonstrates their real-world applicability to students. Through interactive experiments and practical examples, students can better understand how the theory they learn is directly connected to the technologies they use every day. By integrating these topics into the curriculum, we can encourage students to gain a deeper understanding and greater interest in physics by showing them how the material they learn can have a real impact on their lives and future careers. Ultimately, the goal is to provide students with the tools and knowledge to better understand and appreciate the world around them, and to equip teachers with the resources to effectively teach these important concepts.
