Abstract
Ovim istraživanjem prvi puta su komparativno analizirana morfološka, fenološka i genetička obilježja populacija mekousne (Salmo obtusirostris (HECKEL, 1851)) iz rijeka Jadra, Vrljike, Neretve i Zete. Značajno su povećana znanja o morfometriji i meristici tih populacija te o filogenetskim odnosima, temeljeno na analizi mitohondrijske DNK (gen cyt b) i nuklearne DNK (gen RAG1). Ovo istraživanje pokazalo je da između populacija mekousne ne postoji izmjena genetskog materijala te da svaku populaciju u taksonomskom smislu treba sagledati kao zasebnu evolucijski značajnu jedinicu. Rezultati analize gena RAG1 ukazuju na mogućnost da je mekousna iz istog pretka paralelno evoluirala u Zeti, Neretvi, Vrljici i Jadru. Prema morfometrijskim obilježjima postoje sličnosti između populacija iz Jadra i Vrljike te Neretve i Zete, a vjerojatno je posljedica razlika u stanišnim uvjetima. Prikupljeni su podaci o dužinsko-masenim odnosima, starosti i rastu, smrtnosti i razvoju ličinki mekousne iz Vrljike. Sva ova znanja predstavljaju značajan doprinos u zaštiti mekousne kao osnova za planiranje učinkovitih aktivnosti očuvanja njenih populacija.
Abstract (english)
This research for the first time comparatively analyzed morphological, phenological and genetic characteristics of softmouth trout populations (Salmo obtusirostris (Heckel, 1851)) from Jadro, Vrljika, Neretva and Zeta rivers. Mitochondrial (cyt b) and nuclear DNA (RAG1 gene) analysis found that there is no exchange of genetic material among softmouth trout populations and that any population in taxonomic terms should be considered as a separate evolutionary significant unit. Results of RAG1 gene analysis suggest that there was a parallel evolution of softmouth trout from Zeta River on one side and the Neretva, Vrljika and Jadro rivers on the other. Morphometric analysis showed similarities between Jadro and Vrljika’s populations and on the other hand Neretva and Zeta’s populations, probably due to differences in habitat conditions. Additionally, length-weight relationships, age and growth, mortality and development of larvae from Vrljika’s softmouth trout were assessed. All these results represent an important contribution to the more effective conservational activities for softmouth trout populations.
