Abstract
Tema ovog rada je helicikultura, odnosno uzgoj kopnenih vrsta puževa, s fokusom na ekstenzivni uzgoj. Ukratko je obrađena morfologija i taksonomija puževa, nakon čega su prikazane njihove korisne upotrebe za čovječanstvo. Cilj je bio ukratko prikazati postupak podizanja jedne jednostavne farme, od konstrukcije uzgajališta pa do plasmana puževa na tržište. Prvi korak u podizanju farme je odabir pogodnog zemljišta koje ima dovoljno vlage, zaštićeno je od vjetra i tlo sadrži dovoljno nužnih... More mikronutrijenata za puževe. Slijedi konstrukcija uzgajališta koja se sastoji od podizanja vanjske ograde i unutarnjih gredica, a u uzgajalište se zatim sade biljke koje puževima pružaju dovoljno kvalitetne hrane i zaštitu. Kad biljke dovoljno narastu, u uzgajalište se unose puževi. U Europi se najčešće uzgajaju vrste roda Cornu i Helix, a u tropskim područjima Achatina. Nakon sakupljanja puževa i procesa pročišćavanja, spremni su za tržište, na kojem je potražnja veća od ponude. Pokazalo se da je helicikultura perspektivna djelatnost sigurna za okoliš i s mogućnošću brzog povrata uloženih sredstava i postizanja profita. Ne zahtijeva nikakvu naprednu tehnologiju niti puno rada i pretpostavka je da će se s obzirom na velike potrebe tržišta i sve manjeg broja puževa u prirodi, nastaviti širiti i razvijati. Less
Abstract (english)
Theme of this paper is heliciculture, or terrestrial snails farming, with main focus on extensive type of farming. Short morphology and taxonomy overview as well as human use of snails is presented. Main goal is to show procedure of establishing a simple farm, from farm constructing to preparing snails for market. First step in process of farm raising is to choose suitable terrain with humid soil, good wind protection and enough important micronutrients. Next step is construction of the... More farm that includes raising of external fence and internal fences of pasture production fields. Crops planted in farm have to provide good quality food source and shelter from the sun. When the crops reach required height, snails are introduced to farm. Most common farming species in Europe are Cornu and Helix, while Achatina is suitable for tropical areas. After collecting mature snails and process of purging, they are ready for market placement, where requirements exceed offers. It has been show that heliciculture is perspective and environmental friendly business with possibility of quick return of invested money and making profit. No advanced technology or lot of hard work is required. Because of the big market needs and smaller number of snails in nature, heliciculture will continue its growth and development. Less
