Abstract
Posteljica (placenta) je organ koji služi izmjeni hranjivih tvari i plinova između majke i fetusa. Nastaje prilikom implantacije embrija kada sinciciotrofoblast penetrira majčin endometrij. Smatra se da su endogeni retrovirusi zaslužni za evoluciju posteljice u sisavaca. U ovom radu opisana je uloga endogenih retrovirusa i njihovih transkripata u nastanku posteljice, gdje su se uspoređivali geni eksprimirani u ljudima i geni eksprimirani u modelnim životinjama. Produkti gena endogenih retrovirusa štite embrij od imunosnog odgovora majčinog organizma prilikom implantacije, utječu na međumembranske interakcije i stapanje stanica trofoblasta u sinciciotrofoblast, te utječu na preživljenje maternice.
Abstract (english)
The placenta is an organ used for nutrient and gas exchange between the mother and the foetus. It developes during embrional implantation as the syncytiotrophoblast penetrates the maternal endometrium. It is considered that the placental evolution in mammals is mediated by endogenous retroviruses. In this work, the roles of endogenous retroviruses and their transcripts in placental disposition are discussed, where genes expressed in humans and genes expressed in model animals were compared. Products of endogenous retroviral expression protect the embryo from maternal immune response during implantation, they affect membrane-membrane interactions and trophoblast cell fusion to the syncytiotrophoblast and they are responsible for survival of the placenta.
