Abstract
Vanstanične vezikule, čiji je proces otpuštanja konzerviran u svim domenama života, dio su relativno novootkrivenog vanstaničnog vezikularnog odjeljka koji se sastoji od egzosoma, mikrovezikula i apoptotskih tijela. Zbog svojih mogućnosti da prenose makromolekule između stanica i time omoguće staničnu komunikaciju te zbog njihove uključenosti u niz fizioloških i patoloških procesa, vanstanične vezikule postale su vruća tema stanične biologije i medicine. U ovom radu iznesen je kratak pregled glavnih karakteristika tri glavne skupine vanstaničnih vezikula, metoda i problema povezanih s njihovim otkrivanjem te ulogom vanstaničnih vezikula u bolestima i njihovoj dijagnostici. Vanstanične vezikule predstavljaju obećavajući izvor informacija o mnogim bolestima među kojima su najznačajnije kardiovaskularne, autoimune i tumorske bolesti. Osim u dijagnostici, vanstanične vezikule imaju potencijalnu primjenu u ciljanom liječenju bolesti, od tumorskih bolesti pa sve do genske terapije, što ih čini interesantnima za daljnja istraživanja.
Abstract (english)
Extracellular vesicles, whose release is a conserved process in all domains of life, are a part of a relatively new-found extracellular vesicular compartment that is made up of exosomes, microvesicles, and apoptotic bodies. Because of their abilities to transfer macromolecules between cells and thus allow cell-to-cell communication, and because of their known involvement in a number of physiological and pathological processes, extracellular vesicles have become a hot topic in cell biology and medicine. This paper covers a short review of the main characteristics of three main groups of extracellular vesicles, methods and problems related to their detection, and roles of extracellular vesicles in diseases and their diagnostics. Extracellular vesicles present themselves as a promising source of information about a variety of diseases among which the most significant are cardiovascular, autoimmune and cancer diseases. Except in diagnostics, extracellular vesicles have a potential in targeted therapy, from cancer diseases to gene therapy, thus making extracellular vesicles an interesting subject for research.
