Abstract
Crveni koralj (Corallium rubrum, Linnaeus, 1758.) se već eksploatira dugi niz godina, te iako je vrlo poznati, puno toga u vezi s njim još nije razjašnjeno. U ovom se radu navode neki od razloga ugroženosti, te mogućnosti zaštite i uzgoja crvenog koralja. Iako postoje načini kontrole eksploatacije, oni nisu u potpunosti izvedivi, te ih ne provode sve države, a uzgoj nije vrlo profitabilan zbog iznimno sporog rasta crvenog koralja.
Abstract (english)
The red coral (Corallium rubrum, Linneaus, 1758.) has already been exploated for many years, and, even though it's a very well-known species, a lot of things about it are still unclear. This work contains some of the reasons which caused the red coral to be endangered, and the possibilities of its protection and cultivation. Even though there are measures that control the exploitation of the red coral, they aren't perfect in reality, and not all countries uphold them. Also, the cultivation isn't very profitable, due to the red coral's slow growth.
