Abstract
Biljke izložene teškim metalima primaju određenu količinu metalnih iona koji ometaju staničnu homeostazu. Da bi smanjile štetne učinke teških metala biljke su razvile mehanizme izbjegavanja, detoksikacije i tolerancije. Takvi mehanizmi uglavnom se temelje na kelaciji, substaničnoj kompartmentalizaciji te neutralizaciji ROS. Fitohelatini su vrsta kelatora koji se sintetiziraju samo u prisustvu teških metala te s njima stvaraju komplekse koji se transportiraju u vakuolu i na taj način pomažu pri stvaranju tolerancije na teške metale u biljkama.
Abstract (english)
Plants exposed to heavy metals uptake a certain amount of metal ions which interfere with cell homeostasis. Plants have developed mechanisms of avoidance, detoxification and tolerance of heavy metals in order to reduce their harmful effects. Such mechanisms are generally based on chelation, subcellular compartmentalization and neutralization of ROS. Phytochelatins are a type of chelators which are only synthesised in the presence of heavy metals. They form complexes with them and transport them to the vacuole and thus assist in the creation of heavy metal tolerance in plants.
