Abstract
Pomorski promet je vrlo važan jer omogućuje globalno povezivanje te prijevoz robe na velike udaljenosti. Utjecao je na razvoj svjetske trgovine, potaknuo litoralizaciju i omogućio raznovrsniji razvoj industrije. Panamski kanal je umjetni kanal u najužem dijelu Srednje Amerike, na Panamskoj prevlaci koji spaja Atlantski i Tihi ocean. Njegovom izgradnjom omogućena je brža i sigurnija plovidba između Tihog i Atlantskog oceana. Jedan je od svjetskih najprometnijih vodenih puteva na kojeg otpada oko... More 5% brodskoga prometa u svijetu. Godišnje kroz kanal prođe prosječno 14000 brodova s više od 300 milijuna tona robe. Kanal je potrebno rekonstruirati jer nije pristupačan velikim tankerima i kontejnerskim brodovima, ostvario je svoje maksimalne kapacitete te daljnji rast prometa nije moguć. Rekonstrukcija je započela 2009. godine te se namjeravaju udvostručiti kapaciteti kanala. Cilj ovog rada je prikazati položaj i značaj Panamskog kanala u svjetskom pomorskom prometu te ukazati na planove i perspektive njegovog budućeg razvoja. Less
Abstract (english)
Marine traffic is very important because it allows global connection and transport of goods to great distances. It has affected the development of world trade, encouraged littoralization and enabled more versatile industry development. The Panama Canal is an artificial canal in the narrowest part of Central America – Isthmus of Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Its construction enabled faster and safer travel from one ocean to another. It is one of the world's... More busiest waterways which makes up around 5% of world's marine traffic. Every year approximately 14000 ships with more than 3 million tons of merchandise pass through the canal. The canal needs to be reconstructed as it is not suitable for big tankers and container ships, it has reached its maximal capacity and further growth of traffic is not possible. Reconstruction began in 2009 and it is planned to double the canal's capacity. Purpose of this work is to show the position and significance of the Panama Canal in world's marine traffic and also to point out plans and perspective of its future development. Less
