Abstract
Jezero Čad je slatkovodno jezero na prostoru središnje Afrike, smješteno na rubu pustinje Sahare, a okružuju ga države Čad, Kamerun, Niger i Nigerija. Jezero je endoreičko, a dvije važne pritoke su rijeke Chari i Yobe. Bazen jezera Čad ima veliku socijalnu, ekonomsku i političku važnost za tamošnje stanovništvo, te njih, a i biljni i životinjski svijet opskrbljuje vodom. Za pretpostaviti je da bi trend smanjenja jezera, koji se očituje kroz posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća, mogao imati značajne... More posljedice za stanovništvo i održivost toga prostora u budućnosti. U radu će se proučavanjem literature i satelitskih snimaka istražiti promjena volumena jezera Čad te uzroci i posljedice smanjenja jezera za njegovu okolinu. Less
Abstract (english)
The Lake Chad is freshwater lake in Central Africa, positioned on the edge of Sahara desert, and surrounded by Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria. The lake is endoreic, with two main tributaries, Chari and Yobe. The lake Chad basin has a great social, economic and politic importance for millions of people, and also provides water for people, flora and fauna. It is presumably that the trend of shrinking of the lake, which can be seen through last few decades, will have significant consequences... More for people and sustainability of the ecosystem in future. This paper will examine changes of the volume of the lake Chad based on satellite images and will investigate causes and effects of that change for its surrounding. Less
