This paper analyses samples of peloid sediments collected from two locations at the Segal cove on the island of Pag. The samples were analysed for the quantity of the carbonate content, using the Scheibler method, which is approximately 30% on both locations. Phase analysis was determined using the X-ray powder diffraction technique (XRD). The results showed that the samples from both locations contain quartz, calcite, halite, and aragonite. Clay minerals were also determined (kaolinite, muscovite/illite). Measurement of pH of the samples indicated that this was a mild alkaline sediment (pH7,5-8) and the granulometric composition determined using the laser diffraction method showed that the quantity of sand component is dominant. Cation exchange capacity (CEC) is approximately 47 mmolekv/100g at the first location and 61 mmolekv/100g at the second location, while the specific surface area (SSA) was measured on a Micromeritics Flow Sorb II 2300. It amounted to 22 m2g-1 for the first location and 6 m2g-1 for the second location. At the first location, the total sulphur content in the sediment was measured using the Eschka method and the result was approximately 2.5%, which is very suitable for cosmetic and medical purposes. Moreover, overall chemical composition of the sediments was measured using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES).
