Abstract
U ovom seminaru detaljnije je objašnjen problem propadanja koraljnih grebena koji je trenutno vrlo aktualan. Ovdje je naglasak stavljen na klimatske promjene izazvane ljudskim ponašanjem. Današnje stanje koraljnih grebena posljedica je višedesetljetne nebrige za te ekosustave kao i neznanja i neshvaćanja negativnih strana koje nam donosi moderan način života baziran na upotrebi neobnovljivih izvora energije, tj. fosilnih goriva. S druge strane, dobrobiti koraljnih grebena su višestruke, a njihova je vrijednost neprocjenjiva kako za ljude tako i za ostali živi svijet koji nastanjuje područja koraljnih grebena. U uvodu su već navedeni statistički podaci koji nepobitno ukazuju da je prevencija od daljnjeg propadanja koraljnih grebena nužna i da će koraljni grebeni bez naše pomoći postati stvar prošlosti. Ovdje je također objašnjeno kako funkcioniraju ti koraljni grebeni, počevši od malih polipa pa sve do cijelog ekosustava. Osim propadanja koralja spomenuti su i neki drugi problemi koji pogađaju oceanska područja.
Abstract (english)
This work explains in detail the problem of coral reefs dying since it is recently a very popular topic. The emphasis is on climate changes caused strictly by human activities. Present conditions of coral reefs are a consequence of decades of neglect for these ecosystems as well as ignorance and lack of understanding negative aspects that it all brings to a modern way of life based on the use of non renewable energy sources, in example: fossil fuels. On the other hand, the benefits of coral reefs are numerous and their invaluable both for people and for other living creatures that inhabit the coral reef areas. In the introduction, we already mentioned statistics that conclusively show that the prevention of further deterioration of coral reefs is necessary and that the coral reefs without our help will become a thing of the past. It is also explained how the coral reefs function, ranging from small polyps to the entire ecosystem. In addition to reef degradation, other problems concerning the oceans are mentioned.
