Abstract
Pauci su jedna od evolucijski najuspješnijih skupina životinja. Najvažnije prilagodbe koje su im omogućile veliku raširenost i raznolikost su sposobnost izgradnja mreža od svile i uporaba otrova u savladavanju plijena i samoobrani. U ovome radu ukratko su navedene glavne sastavnice dosad istraženih otrova pauka, način njihova djelovanja i opasnost koju predstavljaju po ljude. Predložene su neke mogućnosti za istraživanja u svrhu upotpunjavanja znanja o toksinima pauka, kao i za njihovu komercijalnu uporabu.
Abstract (english)
Spiders are one of the evolutionary most successful groups of animals. The most important adaptations which enabled their great diversity and variability are web-spinning and the use of venom for prey subduction and self-defence. In this paper, main components of the spider venom, their mechanisms of action and the threat they pose for humans are discussed. Possibilites for further studies in the aim of extending our knowledge of spider toxins, as well as their commercial use, are presented.
