Abstract
Glavnu strukturu otoka Brača čini kosa antiklinala pružanja istok-zapad. Većina stijena od kojih je otok izgrađen gornjokredne je starosti, a tek manji dio otoka čine paleogenske naslage. Uvala Likva smještena je na sjeverozapadnom dijelu Brača, nedaleko od Sutivana. Gornja kreda je razdoblje značajnih promjena na području Jadransko-Dinaridske karbonatne platforme koje su posljedica sinsedimentacijske tektonske aktivnosti, globalnih promjena morske razine te nepovoljnih uvjeta krajem krede. Gornjokredni (mastrihtski) vapnenci u uvali Likva izgrađeni su od mikritnih, rudistnih, laminiranih mikritnih vapnenaca te vapnenaca s okršenim ostacima grebenotvornih organizama koji indiciraju diferencijaciju plitkomorskih taložnih okoliša. Udubljenja („rupe“) na površini vapnenaca s intraklastičnom, tamnosivom–crnom ispunom, razlika u mikrofacijesnim tipovima između osnovne stijene i materijala ispune te crni klasti (black pebbles) ukazuju na povremena subaerska izlaganja dijelova karbonatne platforme i odražavaju karstifikacijske procese kao i procese postanka tla koji su tipični za karbonatnu podlogu. Ti su se procesi odvijali u gornjoj vadoznoj zoni, u vegetaciji bogatom terenu i u uvjetima aridne klime najvjerojatnije za vrijeme vršnog mastrihta.
Abstract (english)
The main structure on Island of Brač is oblique anticline, which stretches in the direction of east-west. The Island is mainly build-up of the Upper Cretaceous and, to a lesser extent, Paleogene deposits. Likva Cove is situated in the north-western part of the Island, near Sutivan. Upper Cretaceous is a period of many changes for Adriatic-Dinaridic Carbonate Platform that caused by synsedimentary tectonic activity, the global sea level change and adverse conditions at the end of the Cretaceous. Upper Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) limestone on the island of Brač, in Likva Cove, are made of micritic, laminated micritic limestone and limestone with karsted reef remains of organisms that indicate differentiation of shallow water depositional environments. Indentations (“holes”) on the surface of limestone, containing intraclastic, dark gray–black, filling, differences between basic rock and fill material microfacies types and black clasts (black pebbles) indicate occasional subaerial exposure parts of the carbonate platform and reflect karstification and soil-forming processes typical for carbonate substrates. These processes occurred in the upper vadose zone of a vegetated area, under arid climate and, probably, during uppermost Maastrichtian.
