Abstract
Posttranslacijska modifikacija svaka je preinaka proteina koja se odvija na proteinu nakon njegove biosinteze. Ove modifikacije uključuju smatanje proteina te mnogobrojne kovalentne modifikacije. Toliko su brojne da gotovo da nema proteina koji se ne podvrgava nekoj od ovih modifikacija. Trenutno je otkriveno preko 200 različitih posttranslacijskih modifikacija te su one postale težište istraživanja u proteomici iz razloga što postaje sve jasnije da su proteini bez ovih modifikacija inertne strukture koje ne mogu obavljati svoju biološku ulogu. Stoga je proučavanje ovih modifikacija vrlo bitno, ne samo iz znanstvenog pogleda, već iz medicinskih i biotehnoloških razloga te je budućnost istraživanja ovih modifikacija vrlo obećavajuća.
Abstract (english)
Post-translational modification is every protein modification that is happening after a protein is sythesized. These modifications include protein folding and numerous covalent modifications. Their number is so vast that there is almost no protein that isn't subjected to at least one of these modifications. Currently there are about 200 known post-translational modifications of proteins and they are increasingly becoming the centre of proteomic research because it is becoming evident that a protein without these modifications is nothing but an inert structure, unable to perform its biological function. Therefore, examination of these modifications is becoming more and more important, not only from a scientific perspective, but also from medical and biotechnological views and that is why the future of researching these modifications is very promising.
