Abstract
Molekularni oblaci su strukture međuzvjezdane materije koje se sastoje od prašine i plina te molekula, u najvećem dijelu molekula vodika. Obzirom na relativno veliku gustoću i nisku temperaturu materije unutar oblaka, to su ujedno i područja nastanka zvijezda. No, u ranim stadijima razvoja oblaci imaju manju gustoću te su razlivenijeg, često filamentarnog, oblika. Ovaj rad se fokusira na istraživanje jednog takvog difuznog oblaka, tzv. Polarnog plamička (eng. Polaris Flare), koji se nalazi u neposrednoj blizini sjevernog nebeskog pola. U radu smo koristili promatranja radioteleskopa LOFAR kako bismo napravili tomografiju ionizirane materije unutar oblaka te smo ih usporedili s promatranjima teleskopa Herschel koji detektira neutralnu komponentu materije u oblaku. Rezultati upućuju na postojanje jake komponente magnetskog polja usmjerene u smjeru od promatrača u nekim dijelovima Polarnog plamička i daju nam uvid u trodimenzionalnu sliku magnetskog polja koje dominira procesima u tom području. Proučili smo prostornu raspodjelu neutralne i ionizirane materije korištenjem programa astroHOG i pronašli vrijednosti Faradayevih dubina na kojima različite faze materije pokazuju prostornu antikorelaciju, što ide u prilog slici da isti fizikalni procesi utječu na strukturu i raspored različitih faza međuzvjezdane materije.
Abstract (english)
Molecular clouds are interstellar medium structures composed of dust, gas and molecules, mainly hydrogen. Because of relatively high density and low temperature of matter in the cloud, molecular clouds are an ideal place for star formation. In the early stages of their development they have lower density and their forms are diffuse and often filamentary. This paper focuses on a nearby diffuse molecular cloud, Polaris Flare, found in vicinity of the north celestial pole. In this paper we used LOFAR radiotelescope observations and performed tomography of ionized medium in Polaris Flare. Furthermore we compared it to the Herschel telescope observations of the neutral component of gas contained in the cloud. We found a strong line of sight component of magnetic field in some parts of the Polaris Flare. This gives us insight in the configuration of 3D magnetic field that dominates processes in the area. We have also compared the spatial distribution of neutral and ionized medium in the cloud using the astroHOG program and have found Faraday depth values at which these two phases of interstellar medium show spatial anticorrelation. This result agrees with the idea that the structure and distribution of different interstellar medium phases are dictated by the same physical processes.
