Abstract
Bakterije mogu biti prirodno otporne na antibiotike ili steći rezistenciju na njih mutacijom u genomu ili horizontalnim prijenosom gena. Sve je više bakterija sa stečenom rezistencijom na antibiotike što otežava liječenje infekcija uzrokovane njima. Najveći problem izazivaju bakterije s višestrukom rezistencijom na antibiotike koje uzrokuju bolničke infekcije. Dokazano je da se takve bakterije mogu proširiti iz bolnica u okoliš putem otpadnih voda. Nužne su efikasne metode pročišćavanja i... More dezinfekcije otpadnih voda kako bi se spriječilo širenje patogenih bakterija višestruko rezistentnih na antibiotike u okoliš. Kontinuirano i pouzdano praćenje bakterija sa stečenom rezistencijom na antibiotike prvi je korak u rješavanju ovog globalnog problema. Otpadne vode gradova su dobar medij za praćenje bakterija sa stečenom rezistencijom na antibiotike u zdravoj populaciji zbog jednostavnosti uzimanja uzorka, etičkih razloga i niskih troškova. Analizama otpadnih voda uočene su razlike u brojnosti i raznolikosti rezistentnih bakterija između pojedinih dijelova svijeta. Te su razlike primarno povezane sa zdravstvenim mjerama i razvijenosti pojedinih zemlja što navodi na zaključak da bi se poboljšanjem zdravstva i sanitacije moglo učinkovito djelovati na smanjenje problema bakterijske rezistencije na antibiotike. Abstract (english)
Bacterial antibiotic resistance can be either intrinsic, or bacteria can become acquired resistant as the result of mutation or horizontal gene transfer. The number of bacteria with acquired resistance to antibiotics is increasing which makes disease treatment more difficult. The biggest problem cause multidrug-resistant bacteria that cause nosocomial infections. It is proven that such bacteria can spread from hospitals to the natural environment via the sewage. Proper disinfection of... More wastewater is needed to prevent emission of pathogenic multidrug-resistant bacteria to the natural environment. The first step in solving this global problem is continuous and reliable monitoring of bacteria with acquired resistance to antibiotics. Urban wastewater is found to be a good medium for monitoring bacteria with acquired resistance in a healthy population due to ethical reasons and because taking samples is fairly easy and affordable. Differences in abundance and diversity of resistant bacteria between certain parts of the world were found after analyzing wastewater samples. The differences are primarily connected to the country's development and health measures that leads to a conclusion that the problem of antibiotic resistance can be reduced by improving healthcare and sanitation.
