Abstract
Plemenita periska (Pinna nobilis Linnaeus, 1758), najveći školjkaš Mediterana, ugrožena je i zaštićena vrsta. Međutim, istraživanja plemenite periske u Jadranu su nedostatna. Stoga su ciljevi ovog rada bili istražiti gustoću populacije, veličinsku strukturu i epibionte na periskama unutar pulske luke, te u slučaju epibionata rezultate usporediti s postojećim podacima za obližnji Nacionalni park Brijuni. Gustoća populacije je određivana duž linijskih transekata, a dio jedinki je izvađen, fotografiran te je stvorena baza fotografija koje su pomoću programa photoQuad korištene za morfometrijske analize te za kvantitativnu i kvalitativnu analizu epibionata na ljušturama. Ukupno je zabilježeno 7 svojti epibionata (na Brijunima 27). Utvrđena je gustoća periski od 2,94 jedinki/100m2 u dubinskom rasponu od 2 do 5 m. Također, istraživan je potencijalni odnos između ukupne duljine i maksimalne širine ljuštura te pouzdanost i iskoristivost metode kalibrirane fotografije za morfometriju ljuštura periski. Odnos između ukupne duljine i maksimalne širine ljuštura je pozitivan no dobivena r2 vrijednosti pokazuje da je zavisnost vrlo mala. Metoda kalibrirane fotografije ima zadovoljavajuću preciznost i točnost, usporedivu s onom ručnog mjerenja jedinki, za duljinske mjere - ukupne duljine ljušture, duljine neukopane ljušture i duljine ukopanog dijela ljušture. No, za mjerenje maksimalne širine ljušture ova metoda ima zadovoljavajuću preciznost ali nezadovoljavajuću točnost.
Abstract (english)
The noble pen shell Pinna nobilis (Linnaeus, 1758), the biggest bivalve of the Mediterranean Sea, is an endangered and protected species. However, research on pen shells in the Adriatic is lacking. Therefore, goals of this work were to explore population density, size structure and epibionts on pen shells in the Pula port and, in the case of epibionts, compare the results with existing data for nearby Brijuni National Park. The population density was determined along line transects; and some individuals were taken out and photographed. Created database was used for morphometric analysis and quantitative and qualitative analysis of epibionts on shells using photoQuad. Analysis of photographs revealed 7 epibiontic taxa (27 on Brijuni). In the depth range of 2 to 5 m, density was 2.94 individuals/100m2. Furthermore, the potential relationship between the total length and maximum shell width and the reliability and usability of the calibrated photography method for shell morphometry were explored. The relationship between the total length and maximum shell width is positive, but the obtained r2 value indicates very small dependence. The calibrated photography method has satisfying precision and accuracy that is comparable to the manual measurements of individuals for length measures i.e. total shell length, unburied length and buried length. However, for measuring the maximum shell width, this method has satisfying precision but unsatisfying accuracy.
