Abstract
Genetička kimera označava jedinku u čijem su organizmu prisutne populacije genetički različitih stanica. Prvi slučajevi opisani su polovicom 20. stoljeća, a detekcija kimernih pojedinaca pratila je poboljšanje i razvoj metoda njihove detekcije. Prvo je to bila serologija krvnih grupa i primjećivanje morfoloških karakteristika, potom citogenetika, a sada su to molekularne metode tipizacije. Danas je poznato nekoliko tipova kimerizma obzirom na mehanizam nastanka, a neki oblici su relativno nedavno otkriveni upravo zbog napretka tehnologije i metoda detekcije. Sve češće spominjanje kimera u kontekstu biomedicinskih istraživanja i forenzičkih analiza potiče potrebu za daljnjim razvojem metoda detekcije kako bi se omogućilo sustavno proučavanje i praćenje ove pojave kod čovjeka.
Abstract (english)
A genetic chimera means that an individual carries two genetically distinct lines within its cells. The first cases were described in the middle of the 20th century and the detection of such individuals closely followed advancement and development of new methods of detection. First it was blood group serology and physical symptoms, then cytogenetic methods and now, molecular typing methods. Today, several types of chimerism are known and all differ by their mechanism of origin, some of which were relatively recently discovered because of the mentioned technological advancement of new detection methods. Increasing interest for chimerism in the context of biomedical research and forensic analysis encourages need for further development of more precise detection methods to enable and systematic study and tracking of this phenomena in humans.
