Abstract
Površina je pojam za koji čujemo već od malih nogu i kroz osnovnu školu učimo računati površinu nekog lika bez razmišljanja o tome što je ona zapravo. Ukratko, pridružujemo joj neki broj, a potom uspoređujemo različite likove na temelju tog broja. U ovom radu najprije definiramo trokut i poligon pritom navodeći njihova svojstva. Do pojma površine dolazimo preko pojma jednakosastavljivosti poligona i poligona jednakog sadržaja. U trećem poglavlju definiramo funkciju površine pomoću koje računamo površinu poligona te dokazujemo neka njena svojstva. Naposljetku, dokazujemo Pitagorin poučak pomoću gore definiranih pojmova.
Abstract (english)
From an early age, we have heard about the notion of area. Throughout elementary school, we are taught to calculate an area of a geometric figure without thinking what it really represents. In short, we associate a number to an area and then compare various figures based on that number. In this thesis, we first define what is a triangle and a polygon presenting their respective properties as we do so. Area of a figure (polygon) is explained through notions of equidecomposable figures and figures of equal content. In the third chapter we define area function which is used to calculate area of a given polygon and prove some of its properties. Finally, we prove the Pythagorean theorem using aforementioned notions.
