Abstract
Komarci su životinje koje pripadaju porodici Culicidae i kozmopolitski su rašireni. Značajni su za ljude jer su poznati prijenosnici mnogih ljudskih i životinjskih patogena najčešće virusa, protista ili oblića. Najčešće ljudi budu slučajno uvučeni u životni ciklus ovih patogena koji su primarno paraziti u različitim vrstama kralježnjaka. Najpoznatije bolesti čiji uzročnici koriste komarce kao primarne vektore u prijenosu, a pogađaju ljude i životinje, su: Dengue groznica, Žuta groznica, groznica Zapadnog Nila, Japanski encefalitis, Malarija, Filarijaza, ZIKA groznica i dr. Navedene bolesti kod ljudi mogu i u većini slučajeva i prolaze asimptomatski, ali u slučajevima kada dođe do pojave kliničke manifestacije bolesti većinom se radi o simptomima koji uvelike umanjuju kvalitetu života pacijenta i mogu imati ozbiljne posljedice na imunitet i centralni živčani sustav, a ponekad i završiti smrću. Kontrola ovih bolesti zasada se vrši pomoću cjepiva dostupnih za određene bolesti, a za one koje zasad nemaju razvijeno efektivno cjepivo kontrola se vrši smanjenjem kontakta ljudi i komaraca te kontrolom same populacije komaraca koji su poznati kao vektori u transmisiji.
Abstract (english)
Mosquitos are animals that belong to the family Culicidae and have cosmopolitan distribution. They are significant for people because they are known vectors of various human and animal pathogens, such as viruses, protists and roundworms. In most cases, humans are involved in these life cycles, of primary vertebrate animal pathogens, by accident. Best-known mosquito-borne diseases that affect people are Dengue fever, Yellow fever, West Nile fever, Japanese encephalitis, Malaria, Filariasis, ZIKA etc. In most cases infections in humans go by without symptoms, but in cases that evolve clinical manifestation , the symptoms reduce the life quality of the patients and can have serious consequences on the immune system and the central nervous system, and in some cases can even be fatal. Control of these disease is manly done by vaccination for those disease that have an effective vaccine develop. For those diseases that do not have an effective vaccine develop the measures of control consist of reduction in human-mosquito contact and vector control.
