Abstract
Poskok, Vipera ammodytes (Linnaeus, 1758) je treća prema veličini zmija otrovnica u Europi. Istraživanje populacije u bizečkom kamenolomu provodilo se od 2008. do 2014. godine, kako bi se dobio uvid u biologiju vrste. Ciljevi su bili: utvrditi postojanje međuspolnih razlika u veličini, kakvo je korištenje mikrostaništa i ekspozicija, kolika su područja kretanja, kada i za kojih vremenskih prilika su jedinke aktivne, analizirati prehranu, procijeniti brojnost populacije i istaknuti posljedice nekih ljudskih aktivnosti na istraživanom području. Ukupno je analizirano 140 jedinki. Utvrđeno je postojanje spolnog dimorfizma. U oba spola su utvrđeni vrlo slični afiniteti prema tipu staništa i meteorološkim uvjetima, osim u vlazi zraka. Postoje razlike među spolovima u sezonskoj, ali ne i dnevnoj aktivnosti. Nema razlika među spolovima u prehrani. Odrasli se mužjaci kreću najvećim područjem. Čišćenje kamenoloma, ako se radi na pogrešan način i u krivo vrijeme, ima vidljive negativne posljedice na populaciju poskoka.
Abstract (english)
The Nose-horned viper, Vipera ammodytes (Linnaeus, 1758) is the third largest venomous snake in Europe. The research of the Bizek quarry population was carried out from 2008 to 2014, to gain an insight into the biology of the species. The objectives were: to determine whether there is sexual size dimorphism, to identify habitat and expositional preferences, activity periods, to analyse the diet, to estimate the size of the population and point out the consequences of certain human activities within the study area. A total of 140 individual snakes were analysed. The existence of sexual size dimorphism has been confirmed. Both sexes have very similar habitat and weather condition preferences, apart from humidity. There are intersexual differences in seasonal, but not in daily activity. No intersexual differences in diet were found. Adult males have the largest home ranges. The cleaning of the quarry, if conducted inappropriately and in the wrong time period, has a perceptible negative impact on the viper population.
