This thesis analyses sea level measurements from stations Split-port and the island of Blitvenica for the period from June 7th to October 25th 2019. The goal of the analysis was to detect whether any differences between the denivelation time series at the two stations occured during that period that could be explained by upwelling near the island of Blitvenica. The analysis was done simultaneously for the two stations. Firstly, baroclinic and barotropic contributions to denivelation were observed and it was determined that baroclinic contribution is 20 times smaller than the barotropic contribution. One-minute and fifteen-minute denivelation time series were reduced to hourly sampled series using low-pass filter with half-power point at 0,5 h−1. After that, harmonic analysis and synthesis were applied and the reconstructed tidal signal was subtracted from the hourly denivelation time series. In the newly formed residual time series it was necessary to remove the 1st and the 2nd mode of the Adriatic basin seiche that respresented an unwanted noise. Afterwards, correlation coefficients between residual time series from Split-port and Blitvenica were calculated and it was concluded that there was no need to take +1 and -1 hour time shift into consideration during comparison of the two time series. By comparing time series of wind speeds and residual denivelation time series it was concluded that two longest periods of potential upwelling events took place from June 13th to July 6th and from July 29th to August 6th 2019. During these periods wind was blowing mostly from northwesterly direction (the Etesian winds) with occasional events of intense northeasterly wind (bora), which indicates that the total drop in denivelation may be a result of superimposed inuences of these two winds. Thus, in further research there should be an extra effort taken to differ northwesterly wind impact from northeasterly wind impact on the upwelling mechanism near the island of Blitvenica.
