Abstract
Vrsta Proteus anguinus je endemski stigobiont Slovenije, područja Trsta u Italiji, Hrvatske i Bosne i Hercegovine. Nastanjuje podzemne vode Dinarskog krša. Analizom literaturnih podataka i osobnom komunikacijom sa biospeleolozima ustanovilo se da na području Hrvatske trenutno postoji 68 nalazišta na kojima je barem jednom zabilježeno prisustvo čovječje ribice. Od spomenutih nalazišta 37 su sigurna, 10 su sigurna, nedostupna nalazišta, 14 su potencijalna i 7 su najvjerojatnije kriva nalazišta. Napravljen je popis prvih nalaza čovječje ribice za svaki lokalitet zasebno. U drugom dijelu rada provedena je analiza prikupljene literature iz koje je vidljivo da su se prvotna istraživanja odnosila na rasprostranjenost populacija, dok su kasnija istraživanja uključivala anatomiju, ponašanje i biologiju vrste. Najnovija istraživanja bave se genetikom. Posebno se želi istaknuti potreba za zaštitom ove ugrožene vrste. Čovječa ribica je ugrožena zbog ograničenog rasprostranjenja i male veličine populacije. Negativni učinci na opstanak vrste su degradacija podzemnih sustava, ekonomski razvoj, industrijsko zagađenje te nekontrolirano i nestručno sakupljanje jedinki.
Abstract (english)
Proteus anguinus is endemic stygobiont found in Slovenia, sorounding area of Trieste in Italy, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lives in subterranean waters of the Dinaric karst. The analysis of literature data and personal communication with biospeleologists show that in Croatia here is 68 localities where olm presence was recorded at least once. Acording to recent data, there are 37 confirmed localities, 10 certain, but unavailable, 14 potential and 7 which are most likely to be incorect. In this part I listed data on first records for each of those localities and give comments. In the second part of this paper, there is an analysis of Proteus anguinus bibliography. It shows that first papers were more related to distribution, while the later studies include anatomy, behavior and biology of the species. The latest researches are dealing with genetics. Also, I want to emphasize the need for active protection of this globally, threatened species. The olm is threatened because of it's limited distribution and small population size. Negative effects of survival of this species are degradation of groundwater systems, infrastructure development, industrial pollution and illegal collection of specimens.
