Previous studies of underwater flora and fauna in the Nature Park Telašćica were intermittent and often inconsistent, and the data collected, unfortunately, are not consolidated and analysed yet. Also, the active protection of Croatian submarine is still not fully implemented mainly due to lack of data on the composition and distribution of flora and fauna of the area. For this purpose, research of coral fauna was conducted in September 2012 by diving with scuba equipment to eight stations and in particular at five depths of two vertical profiles: Veli Garmenjak and Sestrica Vela. In collected and processed biological material 63 coral species were found, which represent 56% of up today identified corals in the Adriatic Sea. The abundance of corals was calculated for each depth, counting on 24 test fields (25x25 cm). Greater biodiversity of coral was found at the site Sestrica Vela. In both vertical profiles predominant species were Leptopsammia pruvoti (Lacaze-Duthiers, 1897) and Parazoanthus axinellae (Schmidt, 1862). Exclusively at the site Sestrica Vela species Caryophyllia inornata and Madracis pharensis (Heller, 1868) were record, while the species Balanophyllia europaea (Risso, 1826) was establish only at the locality of Veli Garmenjak. Similarity index with respect to the coral fauna in test fields on same depth shows great connectivity of Veli Garmenjak and Sestrica Vela.
