Abstract
Istraživanje koordinacijskih polimera, kao i metalo-organskih mreža, značajno se intenziviralo u posljednih nekoliko godina. Zbog svojih svojstava koordinacijski polimeri su pokazali izniman potencijal primjene u mnogim područjima ljudske djelatnosti. Najčešće se sastoje od metalnih iona d- i f-bloka periodnog sustava elemenata koji su premošteni pomoću drugih molekula tvoreći tako polimere u jednoj, dvije ili tri dimenzije. Ovisno o svome sastavu, koordinacijski polimeri imaju specifična svojstva. Posebno su zanimljivi kiralni koordinacijski polimeri sa šupljinama u kristalnoj strukturi i koji se često koriste za razdvajanje enantiomera ili za “dostavu“ lijekova u slučaju kad su izgrađeni od biokompatibilnih gradivnih jedinica. U sklopu ovog rada priređeni su i strukturno karakterizirani koordinacijski polimeri bakra(II), kobalta(II) i nikla(II) s 1,2-bis(4-piridil)etanom kao premošćujućim ligandom. Sva tri koordinacijska polimera su izostrukturni (P622) i sadrže nitratne anione za razliku od poznatog kompleksa bakra(II) s istim ligandom i perkloratnim anionima (P21/n). Razlozi mogu biti mnogostruki, ali vjerojatno je presudan utjecaj aniona i njegovih svojstava.
Abstract (english)
Research on coordination polymers, as well as metal-organic networks, has intensified significantly in recent years. Due to their properties, coordination polymers have shown exceptional application potential in many areas of human activity. They usually consist of metal ions of the d- and f-blocks of the periodic table of elements that are bridged by other molecules, thus forming polymers in one, two or three dimensions. Depending on their composition, coordination polymers may have specific properties. Of particular interest are chiral coordination polymers with cavities in the crystal structure that are often used to separate enantiomers or to "deliver" drugs in the case where they are constructed from biocompatible building blocks. Coordination polymers of copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) nitrates were prepared with 1,2- bis(4-pyridyl)ethane as a bridging ligand. All three complexes with nitrate anion are isostructural (P622) as opposed to the complex formed from perchlorate anion (P−1). The reasons can be multiple, but the influence of the anion and its properties is probably crucial.
