Abstract
Varijacija fenotipa kompleksnih, kvantitativnih svojstava je važan predmet istraživanja u modernoj biologiji. Jedan od korištenih modela za istraživanje ovih svojstava je efikasnost sporulacije kvasca Saccharomyces cerevisae. Razna istraživanja efikasnosti sporulacije rezultirala su djelomičnim objašnjenjem genetičke osnove ovog svojstva, a ciljevi biometrijske analize korištene u ovom istraživanju su bili postavljanje modela nasljeđivanja i određivanje broja neovisno segregirajućih lokusa koji utječu na ovo svojstvo. Ovi ciljevi su ostvareni analizom srednjih vrijednosti i varijanci efikasnosti sporulacije kvaščevih sojeva korištenih u ovom istraživanju te konstrukcijom teoretskih modela nasljeđivanja. Pokazano je da se značajan dio fenotipske varijacije efikasnosti sporulacije nakon 24 h može objasniti neovisnom segregacijom dvaju lokusa koji su u epistatskom odnosu.
Abstract (english)
Phenotypic variation of complex, quantitative traits is an important object of research in modern biology. One of the commonly used models for investigating such traits is sporulation efficiency in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Various studies of sporulation efficiency resulted in partial explanations of the genetic background of this trait, but the goals of the biometric analysis utilized in this study were to set up a model of inheritance and to determine the number of independently segregating loci affecting this trait. These goals were achieved by analysing the mean values and variances of sporulation efficiencies of yeast strains used in this study and by constructing theoretical models of inheritance. The analysis showed that a large portion of phenotypic variation in sporulation efficiency after 24 h can be explained by independent segregation of two loci whose relationship is epistatic.
