Abstract
Koralji su sesilni morski beskralježnjaci koji pripadaju koljenu žarnjaka (Cnidaria). Žive u zadrugama ili pojedinačno. Dijele se na podrazrede šesterolovkaša i osmerolovkaša, što je određeno brojem pregrada u tijelu polipa i brojem lovki, odnosno simetrijom tijela. Imaju cjevasto tijelo priraslo za podlogu, septama pregrađenu gastrovaskularnu šupljinu i jedan tjelesni otvor tj. usta obrasla lovkama. Razlikuju se mekani koralji i koralji koji tvore vapnenačke grebene, što ovisi o građi njihovog skeleta. Razmnožavaju se spolno i nespolno. U Jadranskom moru žive vrlo raznolike vrste koralja, a neke od njih su endemi specifični za mediteransko područje.
Abstract (english)
Corals are sessile marine invertebrates belonging to the genus Cnidaria. They live in colonies or individually. They are divided into subclasses of Hexacorallia and Octocorallia, which is determined by the number of septa in the body of the polyp and the number of tentacles, or body symmetry. They have a tubular body attached to the substrate, a septum-divided gastrovascular cavity and one body opening, ie a mouth overgrown with tentacles. There are soft corals and corals that form limestone reefs, which depends on the structure of their skeleton. They reproduce sexually and asexually. The Adriatic Sea is home to a wide variety of coral species, some of which are endemic to the Mediterranean.
