Abstract
Bioluminiscencija je fenomen prisutan kod različitih organizama, te je predmet mnogobrojnih znanstvenih istraživanja. Bioluminiscencija uključuje emisiju svjetlosti kroz kemijske reakcije unutar živih organizama. U procesu bioluminiscencije sudjeluju luciferin i luciferaza. Luciferin emitira svjetlost u reakciji sa specifičnim spojevima, uz pomoć luciferaze. Emitirana svjetlost služi za obranu od predatora, komunikaciju, kamuflažu te privlačenje plijena ili partnera. Cilj proučavanja bioluminiscencije je poznavanje njezinih mehanizama, raznolikosti u prirodi i uloge u živom svijetu.
Abstract (english)
Bioluminescence, a phenomenon present in various organisms, is the subject of numerous scientific investigations. Bioluminescence involves the emission of light through chemical reactions within living organisms. Luciferin and luciferase participate in the process of bioluminescence. Luciferin emits light in reaction with specific compounds, with the help of luciferase. The emitted light is used for defense against predators, communication, camouflage and attracting prey or partners. The purpose of studying bioluminescence is to know its mechanisms, diversity in nature and role in the living world.
