Abstract
Predstavnike porodice vrana (Corvidae) karakteriziraju iznimne kognitivne sposobnosti koje su usporedive s primatima. Zbog toga su predmet brojnih znanstvenih istraživanja. Inteligencija im se očituje u različitim aspektima ponašanja, uključujući rješavanje problema, korištenje alata, socijalnu interakciju i komunikaciju. Vrane koriste i prilagođavaju različite predmete kao alate, što ukazuje na sposobnost apstraktnog mišljenja i planiranja. Istraživanja kognitivnih sposobnosti vrana pružaju uvid u evoluciju inteligencije, osobito u kontekstu paralelnih evolucijskih procesa između ptica i sisavaca. Njihova sposobnost apstraktnog razmišljanja, prilagodljivosti i učenja čini ih modelima za proučavanje složenih kognitivnih procesa.
Abstract (english)
Members of the crow family (Corvidae) are characterized by exceptional cognitive abilities that are comparable to those of primates, making them the subject of numerous scientific studies. Their intelligence is evident in various aspects of behavior, including problem-solving, tool use, social interaction, and communication. Crows use and adapt different objects as tools, which indicates their capacity for abstract thinking and planning. Research on the cognitive abilities of crows provides insight into the evolution of intelligence, especially in the context of parallel evolutionary processes between birds and mammals. Their ability for abstract reasoning, adaptability, and learning makes them ideal models for studying complex cognitive processes.
