Abstract
Cilj ovog rada je utvrđivanje učestalosti rezistencije na imipenem i kolistin te raznolikosti bakterijskih populacija s ovim fenotipom rezistencije u morskoj vodi sa postaja pod fekalnim onečišćenjem u Kaštelanskom zaljevu (K. Gomilica i K. Sućurac) u odnosu na kontrolnu postaju Stončica na otoku Visu. Nakon biokemijske identifikacije ispitana je fenotipska osjetljivost izolata na antibiotike. Najveća učestalost rezistencije na kolistin utvrĎena je u morskoj vodi sa otoka Visa (2,88%). Postotci rezistencije na imipenem u sličnom iznosu utvrĎeni su na postajama u Kaštelanskom zaljevu, od čega 0.02% u K. Sućurcu i 0.01% u K. Gomilici. Različita učestalost rezistencije na kolistin i imipenem posljedica je razlike u sastavu bakterijskih populacija morske vode na postajama među kojima prevladavaju vrste s prirodnom rezistencijom na navedene antibiotike. Rezultati ukazuju na potrebu daljnjeg istraživanja bakterijske rezistencije na antibiotike u okolišu kako bi se očuvala bioraznolikost ekosustava mora i smanjio rizik za ljudsko zdravlje.
Abstract (english)
We aimed to determine the frequency of imipenem and colistin resistance, and the diversity of bacterial populations with this resistance phenotype in seawater from fecally polluted sites in Kaštela Bay (K. Gomilica and K. Sućurac) in relation to Stončica (island of Vis) as control station. After biochemical identification, antibiotic susceptibility testing was assessed. The highest incidence of colistin resistance was detected in seawater from Vis (2.88%). The percentage of imipenem resistance was detected at similar rates at two sites in Kaštela Bay (0.02% in K. Sućurac and 0.01% in K. Gomilica). Levels of colistin and imipenem resistance were a consequence of differences in the composition of bacterial populations persisting in seawater at these sites, among which the species mediating intrinsic resistance to these antibiotics prevail. The results indicate the need for further investigation of antibiotic resistance in environment to preserve the biodiversity of marine ecosystem and reduce the risk for human health.
