Abstract
Meteorološki tsunami je prirodna pojava koja nastaje djelovanje težinskih valova u atmosferi na more putem rezonantnih procesa. Teško se predviđaju, a kad se pojave, mogu trajati do nekoliko sati te uzrokovati velike štete na obali. Da bi procjenili pojavu meteotsunamija u budućoj klimi, u ovom smo radu konstruirali meteotsunami indekse koristeći se s nekoliko sinoptičkih značajki za koje se prethodnim istraživanjima pokazalo da su povezane s nastankom i razvojem meteotsunamija. Indekse smo procjenili za područje Balearskog otočja zbog učestale pojave meteotsunamija na tom području.
Abstract (english)
Meteorological tsunami is a natural phenomenon that is generated by gravity waves that resonantly transfer the energy into the sea. It is difficult to predict the phenomenon, which can last up to several hours and cause huge damage in coastal areas. To evaluate the occurrence of meteotsunamis in a future climate, we constructed meteotsunami index using several synoptic variables that are known to be relevant during meteotsunamis. We estimated indices for the Balearic Islands because of the frequent occurrence of meteotsunamis in the area.
